Application Process

NOTE: The instructions below are also available on the Application for Admissions Form pdf window. You will need the free Adobe Acrobat Reader (version 8 recommended) to open and fill out the application form. Instructions

Before applying, we recommend the following steps to confirm that Shiloh University is a good fit for you:

  1. Review the Degrees & Programs and Admissions Information in the University website/catalog.
  2. Review the Technical Requirements for using the Shiloh University on-line classroom.
  3. Review the About Us section of the University website/catalog, including the Statement of Faith and Accreditation Statement.

To complete the Admissions Application Form, follow these steps:

  1. We recommend that you start this process at least 1 month prior to the admissions deadline. All paperwork listed below must be received by the Shiloh University admissions office by the deadline indicated in order to be considered for the upcoming term.
  2. Complete Application for Admissions Form pdf window. Original must include the student’s signature.
  3. Write personal statements (one paragraph minimum for each point) (see page 5 of the Application for Admissions Form pdf window).
    • Describe your Christian experience and goals.
    • Describe how you plan to accomplish your program of study
      Note: Generally, one 3-unit course requires the following hours of study per week:
      Graduate level: 10 - 15 hours, Undergraduate level: 8 - 10 hours, Personal Enrichment: 6 - 8 hours.
  4. Write and include an essay describing your reasons for study at Shiloh University. Include in your essay how your degree will help you in your life and ministry. Essay must by typed, be between 300 to 500 words, and include your name, address, and email address. Note: No essay required for Personal Enrichment.
  5. Complete the top portion of the Recommendation Form pdf window. Recommendations should not be from a relative. Please share pertinent information with the Recommenders that will help them complete their recommendation letter. Obtain references from:
    • Pastor
    • Church member
    • Teacher or counselor – recent graduates (within 1 year)
    Note: Personal Enrichment programs only need a Pastor’s recommendation.
  6. Include official transcripts (for graduate and undergraduate programs) or have them mailed to Shiloh University by the admissions deadline stated.
  7. Mail application to: Admissions, Shiloh University, 100 Shiloh Drive, Kalona, IA 52247. Please also e-mail application to: admissions@shilohuniversity.org to begin processing your application.
    Note: If you are not able to submit all materials together, please send in the Application form and personal statements to Shiloh University and communicate the admissions deadlines to those writing recommendations and sending transcripts.

  8. You will be notified regarding acceptance.
  9. Upon acceptance, you will receive instructions on registering for classes.
