Educational Philosophy

Shiloh University curriculum is based on the fact that the Bible is the inspired and inerrant Word of God. It is timeless and universal in its authority and application. The University incorporates this perspective in its curriculum.

Shiloh University recognizes the role of the Holy Spirit to reveal the Scriptures according to Christ’s words in John 16:13, “But when He, the Spirit of Truth, comes, He will guide you into all truth.”

University classes are intended for all who desire a deeper knowledge of the Bible, including the undergraduate student, graduate student, pastor, and lay ministry. It is our belief that all can learn and grow in their knowledge of the Word of God; therefore, it is our desire to make Shiloh University courses available to any who are willing and able to study them.

Shiloh University students come from different age groups, countries, backgrounds, and experience. Our educational paradigm is to strive to ensure success and a positive educational experience for every student. In our programs we want students to experience an atmosphere that imparts knowledge, value, appreciation, and love of the Scriptures.

Distance Learning

Shiloh University recognizes the educational needs of individuals who pastor and carry responsibility in churches, are in the mission field, or work and have family commitments in different areas throughout the world. It also recognizes that many young men and women are receiving training through mentoring relationships and through active ministry responsibilities. Considering these important realities, University courses are taught through online / distance learning, allowing interested students in any location to participate.

Each student must evaluate and determine if distance learning is right for them. In the online / distance learning environment, the student will not have the opportunity of receiving “face-to-face” verbal instructions and answers from their instructors. It is important to be a self-starter and have a personal discipline to study. The advantages are the student’s ability to schedule their own study time in a way that fits their circumstances and lifestyle.

Our goal is to facilitate a successful distance learning experience for our students. Shiloh University courses and programs are comprised of these elements:

  • Online course delivery system.
  • Course materials that are developed to be easily followed, with adequate instructions and suggestions for effective study.
  • Instructional materials that include an Introduction with Study Tips, a Syllabus, and weekly lessons that guide the student into the content of each course.
  • Course content typically found in textbooks, lectures / lecture notes, online resources, and other supplemental materials.
  • Lessons containing helpful hints that will facilitate learning and save the students valuable study time.
  • Faculty and staff who are student-oriented, providing a supportive and encouraging atmosphere.
